Common Questions About MAT/Suboxone Treatment

If you have any other questions, see our main FAQ page.

Yes. Current regulations allow Board-Certified Psychiatrists to prescribe Suboxone/Subutex (Buprenorphine) in film or tablet form via secure video appointments. If needed, we can send same-day medications to the pharmacy of your choice. This means you can receive discreet, expert addiction treatment from the privacy of your own home, without the stigma or hassle of standing in line at a clinic.

Yes. We believe cost should never be a barrier to recovery. Unlike many specialized suboxone practices that are cash-only, we believe the highest-quality medical treatment for opioid use disorder should be accessible. We are in-network with and accept major insurance plans (including Aetna, Cigna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, UHC/Optum and others) to cover your psychiatric evaluations, medications and all follow-up appointments.

At Northstone Psychiatry, we believe elite medical care is defined by clinical excellence, not high fees. By maintaining in-network status, we adhere to the rigorous quality standards required by major health systems. This ensures that when you book with Northstone, you’ll receive safe, physician-led treatment from a board-certified psychiatrist – often for as low as $0 depending on your plan. If you are paying out-of-pocket, we offer transparent pricing that is significantly lower than most inpatient rehab programs.

We often have appointments available within days. Unlike large hospital systems or clinics where wait times can be months, we prioritize MAT patient accessibility so you can get the treatment and medications you need ASAP.

Once we complete your evaluation and determine the appropriate treatment, we send your prescription electronically to your preferred pharmacy immediately, so you can pick it up and feel better the same day.

No. Addiction is the uncontrollable compulsion to use drugs despite harm. Suboxone (Buprenorphine) is a medication that stabilizes your brain chemistry. It stops cravings and withdrawal symptoms without producing a ‘high,’ allowing you to function normally, hold a job, maintain relationships and rebuild your life. It is the gold-standard medical treatment for Opioid Use Disorder, similar to taking insulin for diabetes.

While therapists and psychologists provide counseling, a Psychiatrist is a medical doctor and licensed physician who then completed an additional 4 years of residency training specializing in treating mental health conditions, including opioid use disorder, other substance abuse/addictions and all other mental health conditions. Psychiatrists are fully licensed to prescribe all medications, make any diagnosis, and perform any therapy.

“Board-Certified” Psychiatrists have done all of this and then sought additional credentialing by the American Board of Neurology and Psychiatry, to ensure the absolute highest standards, experience, knowledge and credentialing of any mental health provider anywhere. And yes, when you book with Northstone, you’ll see a Board-Certified Psychiatrist.

If you have been in therapy or attended groups without long-term results, seeing a medical doctor who can target the biological root of your addiction gives you the best evidence-based path to recovery.

Absolutely not. Your treatment is protected by HIPAA and strict federal confidentiality laws. Our platform is 100% private and HIPAA-compliant. We do not share your medical records with your employer, family, or any public database without your explicit consent. We offer a completely confidential, judgment-free space for your recovery.

First, we treat Opioid Use Disorder with dignity and respect, not judgment. Unlike crowded clinics where you are treated like a number, we are a private medical practice. You will see a dedicated physician who works with you to find the right dose, manages any co-occurring anxiety or depression, and supports you on your path to freedom.

Second, we are able to offer you a fast and convenient experience with telepsychiatry. No waiting weeks or even months for treatment. No rushing through traffic, sitting in waiting rooms or inconvenient appointment times. Whether you’re at home, at work, or even out of town, we can see you at a time that is convenient for you through any phone, tablet or computer and begin your MAT/Suboxone treatment the same day. We strive to be very flexible with appointment times and make getting your medications (and refills) a breeze.

It’s very simple, we promise. You don’t need to download any software or apps, make phone calls, mail in anything or even be good with technology.

Step 1 – Book an appointment at a time convenient for you

Step 2 – Before your appointment, we’ll email or text you a secure link. Just click that link from your phone, tablet or computer and you’ll be connected directly to your provider in a private, HIPPA-compliant video room

Step 3 – Talk to a board-certified psychiatrist. We’re approachable, easy to talk to and here to listen. We’ll put together a treatment plan for your opioid use disorder/MAT and can send same-day opioid addiction medications such as Suboxone to your pharmacy if needed.
