Board-Certified Psychiatrist
Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine
Founder, Northstone Psychiatry
Not every patient requires medication, but for many, it is a powerful tool to regain stability. As board-certified psychiatrists, we specialize in medication management for anxiety. We use an evidence-based approach to determine if prescription treatments (like SSRIs, SNRIs, Beta-blockers or other treatments) are right for your specific symptoms and brain chemistry.
We are able to prescribe any and all medications that may be effective in treating your anxiety. If necessary, we are also able to prescribe controlled medications such as benzodiazepines (Xanax, Valium, Klonopin, etc).
While therapists and psychologists provide counseling, a Psychiatrist is a medical doctor and licensed physician who then completed an additional 4 years of residency training specializing in treating mental health conditions, including anxiety. Psychiatrists are fully licensed to prescribe all medications, make any diagnosis, and perform any therapy.
“Board-Certified” Psychiatrists have done all of this and then sought additional credentialing by the American Board of Neurology and Psychiatry, to ensure the absolute highest standards, experience, knowledge and credentialing of any mental health provider anywhere. And yes, when you book with us, you’ll see a Board-Certified Psychiatrist.
If you have been in therapy but feel stuck, or if your symptoms are physical (panic attacks, jitters, insomnia, racing heart, etc), seeing a medical doctor ensures you are treating the biological root of your anxiety, not just the symptoms.
Yes. Studies show that Telepsychiatry is just as effective as in-person care for diagnosing and treating anxiety disorders. Anything a psychiatrist can do in an office can be also done through video, including therapy, prescribing medication, or ordering tests if needed.
Our secure, HIPAA-compliant video visits allow you to receive expert medical care from the privacy and comfort of your home at a time that is convenient for you. Many patients with anxiety strongly prefer online treatment because they avoid the stress of rushing through traffic to a clinic at an inconvenient time, sitting in a waiting room and driving back home afterwards.
Yes. Unlike many specialized psychiatry practices that are cash-only, we believe the highest-quality medical care should be accessible. We are in-network with and accept major insurance plans (including Aetna, Cigna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, UHC/Optum and others) to cover your psychiatric evaluations and follow-up medication management appointments.
Why this matters: We believe that mental healthcare should be both high-quality and accessible to all. Not taking insurance often means $500+ new patient appointments and $300+ follow up visits every month. Although this is profitable for other clinics that refuse to take insurance, these ‘cash-pay’ clinics bypass standard medical oversight and lack basic accountability. To make matters worse, providers at these out-of-network cash clinics aren’t even required to maintain basic board-certification.
At Northstone Psychiatry, we believe elite medical care is defined by clinical excellence, not high fees. By maintaining in-network status, we adhere to the rigorous quality standards required by major health systems. This ensures that when you book with Northstone, you’ll receive safe, physician-led treatment from a board-certified psychiatrist – often for as low as $0 depending on your plan.
First, when you book with Northstone Psychiatry, you’ll see a real doctor: a licensed, board-certified psychiatrist who completed medical school and an additional four years of residency training specializing in anxiety-related conditions such as generalized anxiety disorder, social anxiety, phobias and panic attacks. By choosing Northstone you put your anxiety treatment in the hands of a doctor with the highest qualifications, training, knowledge and experience.
Second, we are a truly local physician-owned company. Unlike the other “big box” nationwide telehealth chains that are funded corporate interests, offer ‘one-size-fits-all’ anxiety treatments and switch your provider every other visit, we’re able to bring direct physician-to-patient care personalized to you and your unique concerns.
Third, we are able to offer you a seamless, accessible and convenient experience with telepsychiatry. No waiting weeks or even months for treatment. No rushing through traffic, waiting rooms and inconvenient appointment times. Whether you’re at home, at work, or even out of town, we can see you at a time that is convenient for you through any phone, tablet or computer and begin your anxiety treatment the same day. We strive to be very flexible with appointment times and can often schedule visits in the evenings or later if needed.
Finally, we offer a truly empathetic and patient-centered approach to our care. We want to get to know the real you, so we listen first and talk second. By doing so, we can uncover the root of your anxiety and provide a real evidence-based treatment.
We often have appointments available within days. Unlike large hospital systems where wait times can be months, we prioritize accessibility so you can get the treatment you need when you actually need it.
Also, if you like your doctor we don’t change them every other visit like big nationwide telepsychiatry platforms do. Because we’re local, physician-led and physician-owned, we can deliver direct doctor-to-patient care without any corporate middleman getting involved in your treatment.
It’s very simple, we promise. You don’t need to download any software, install anything or even be good with technology.
Step 1 – Book an appointment at a time convenient for you
Step 2 – Before your appointment, we’ll email or text you a secure link. Just click that link from your phone, tablet or computer and you’ll be connected directly to your provider in a private, HIPPA-compliant video room
Step 3 – Talk to a board-certified psychiatrist. We’re approachable, easy to talk to and here to listen. We’ll put together a treatment plan for your anxiety and can send same-day anxiety medications to your pharmacy if needed.
